The guys who will make this game, are the same who made CoD3, which was a console game, and it didn't get the succes like CoD4 did.
And don't think CoD5 will take over CoD4 as a competive game.

Judging from the first screens it´s set at the pacific theatre. In my opinion that´s not bad but I hope there´ll also be some missions in Europe.

Well it can't be worse than cod4. I enjoy cod4 but this game is just overrated. After one week of practice you can become (almost) as good as everyone else.
For the last weeks I have been playing cod2 and it's a way better than cod4. People have been realizing for a few months so they try to change the game by finding a new fix every days or to now remove a map (vacant) from leagues.
They also know that the AK74u is too powerfull but they don't want to remove it. I will let you guess why...
Anyway it's too late to step back.

Well as I heard from people like anthoo or woken, a lot of top players in cod4 were average or just bad in cod2. So of course people playing at top level atm prefer cod4 since they were almost nothing in cod2. As for people with average skill they could prefer cod4 since the indivudal skill doesn't really matter.
There is a part of people who prefer cod2 but continue to play cod4 because they like it enough. There is also a part of people who prefer cod4 because they are better at it...

cod2 was more static less ingame-intelligence and situational awareness needed.
with sprint another dimension of movement has been added, cooked nades(like we all know and love them from dod) allow a creative use of nades, wallbang is a good way to counter campers, the lack of 1shotkill-rifles besides scoped(which I as a kar-player miss) allows a more dynamic gameplay with ppl actually risking sth.
cod2 was dominated by bypasshots, chokepoint defence and pick&wait. its like in dod 1.3, there were those lights, capable of those impressive strafe-see-kill-strafe moves and those who mostly ppl passing a point they aimed at. the first way is more creative offensive and Id say more skillful. cod2 was dominated by the 2nd way.
moreover I actually teamed up with eurocup-cod1/2 players and well they are still on the same level...smart ppl with allround shooter-skills will always play on the highest level.
ofc there are tons of brainbug-aim-only guys amongst top-cod4-players, but well you find those in any shooter
oh and btw I just played some cod2-wars this week...evne those who thought it was better realized its kinda not that good anymore. I actually started to dislike it - besides rifle tdm OFC ;D

everybody started playing cod4 when they said dods is dead...then they came back to dods from cod4 becuse that game sucked...and now people are leaving dods becuse of the stupid update and play cod4 again=D

Turtles 2 owns every game ever made and ever game that will be made.
cod5 will be a big failure as you can drive around in tanks and shit, its just gonna be like cod2: uo. Its gonna fail big time. I miss the WWII environment but I think we're stuck in the future for a while longer ;<
#18 cod4 is far from dead as its tournament with loads of money dods will never be close of seeing ever just like alot of other games. But then again, the game might die after the tournaments is done if not big tournaments will pick it up. Time will tell.
tiigi: maybe its because the cod2 players that was just average actually give a damn now when there is price money invald? they are trying to push themselves to a point they have never been to before? or maybe old cod2 players that was in a good team picked them up with most likely makes the average player just as good as the other teammates if he has the potential to become a good player. im pretty sure thats what we did with ki in dods as he was just an average newb when we picked him up. Seems like he's made quite a name for himself after that.

I Played some DoD wars After I started playing cod4 pretty Seriously and It just wasn't as fun. The game just didn't feel as good, and It felt like it played alot worse.
I don't know which one I prefer out of CoD2 and CoD4. I've had alot more game time in terms of playing with a team, in cod4, so I think my opinion would be automatically bias. But on the other hand when I'm playing CoD2 It doesn't get me excited like cod4 does, I personally think the game is amazing and I don't want to stop playing it as far as I can see.
Skill Wise, I think you can't really say one game is more difficult than the other, it's pretty had to make a comparison of two games based on complete different era's of warfare. I can see where it might come from though becuase both games come from the same Makers and companies, but the games are too different to make a comparison. Maybe the game style of CoD4 suits the average CoD2 players more resulting in an evident skill boost?
I think Becuase it was a completely new game out It gave players a fresh start, with it being so different from CoD2 it gave any player with nice aim and a brain a chance to do well, just look at tidde zsilts and klanne when they were all at fnatic, going up against CoD players of teams like esuba and dignitas who have been playing cod for what seems a lifetime.
I tihnk CoD4 is faaaar from a dead game, there's tons of LANs and prize money for offline and online events. And then there's ladders like Clanbase and ED for those who like that sort of thing. It's such a good Spectator game also, I love watching live games on quadv. :D

#21 tidde and zslits have also been playing cod for ages, even at EuroCup level as far as I can remember, so they weren't that new to the game...

promod is the best thing that ever happend to cod4. I must say Morg really impressed me once more when he came up with this idea together with raf. but, this is no the right thread to talk about it ;)
