Allright this is for public play so it's no big deal really but would be nice to get it fixed and know how to fix it in the future.
First of all I got cod4 through steam so I guess I had it coming.
This morning when I tried to open up cod4mp there was what seemed like a miniupdate or something. Then when I tried to open up the game through the steam menu cod4 multiplayer wouldnt start, although single player would.
So I into steam folder and try to click directly on iw3mp.exe which worked, but when I come into game it said "an error occured trying to read the stats file, the stats have been reset". So it made a new mpdata file, and the old one was now called mpdata.corrupt.
Now the game opened fine through the steam browser as well.
So I delete the "new" mpdata file and rename the old one that was called mpdata.corrupt to just mpdata again, but still got the same error.
Any suggestions?

Did you download the 1.4 patch first, and after that installed 1.5?

No clue, don't know mutch about Steam, other then that it sucks for COD :P

Download a cod4 CD, install it, take your cdkey from steam and use it that way instead ;)

Just go in cod4 options -> multiplayers options -> change key and you will see it ;)
