Despite finishing sixth in the regular ESL Pro Series season with a 2-0-5 record, the promising Spain team OverGame have claimed first place in the 1,100€ ESL Pro Series Spain LAN Finals in Valencia, defeating wNs in a thrilling three-mapper.
With the winners of the EPS season, Team Wizards, cancelling their planned attendance to this LAN, OverGame was given the opportunity to compete versus the Spanish elite in the EPS LAN Finals. Having defeated Team UNIR in the Semi-Finals, the Spanish team (consisting of several familar faces to the DoD:s scene GuEjOs, lwf, amon, Celebeth and noiR) faced off against wNs in an epic best-of-three final, with a grand prize of 700€ in cash awarded to the eventual victor.
Coming into the final as underdogs, overGame got off to a good start, pulling off a suprise by managing to take the first map with relative ease, with a score of 13-7. wNs however replied and tied the game overall with a 13-10 win on their mapchoice, before switching over to the third decisive map.
Moving on to map three, both teams turned out to be quite evenly matched and started exchanging rounds back and forth. With the pressure building up at the Campus Party 2008, wNs took OverGame into overtime but failed to deliver that knock-out blow. OverGame emerging as champions with a score of 16-14.
